  • Tonight I made granola - it is awesome.
I'm sitting here at the table eating it right off the pan!
With dried cranberries, walnuts and sunflower seeds  - Yummy!
I got this recipe from a friend I made in speech class - a couple weeks ago when we had to give demonstrative speeches she showed us how to make granola. I asked for the recipe and she was nice enough to share. Having tried to make atleast 3 different kinds of granola I think I finally have a simple, yummy winner. I am now trying to figure out how to make granola bars with dark chocolate chips using this yummy stuff.
Time to go recipe hunting  ...
In other news - I made fried pickles and my siblings loved them. My good friend Diana loves pickles, and when we girls got together last -  She introduced me to these evil fried things! pretty tasty

  • So I  got all done with my school assignment and I was itching to bake something.
Last night I sat on the couch and watched a movie while I shelled a 3lb bag of pistachios. The saddest thing was I only ended up with about 1 lb of nuts in the end - rip off! So today I made a batch of chocolate chip pistachio biscotti - It was a new experience. I have never made biscotti before.
(Side note -Much to my surprise Xanga doesn't recognize biscotti as a word.)
It turned out pretty yummy - but now I need some coffee - and I got rid of my coffee maker last year - oh well!
I still need to make granola - maybe tonight if I get my act together.
All in all today has been great - School assignments are done,
got an A on a pop quiz,
and I have a  yummy batch of biscotti.

  • Kitchen Adventures
Today the sun is shining .Spring is finally here to stay? I hope.
I Got up today and ran through my list of everyday responsibilities and then decided to head up to the kitchen and see if anything needed doing.
As it turns out - there was a present waiting for me on the kitchen counter - 2 very brown & mushy looking bananas Can you say Banana Bread? So I whipped up an loaf and put it in the oven.
Then because 1 loaf of bread doesn't do my culinary whims justice  .... I put water and onions into a large pot on the stove top, and plopped the turkey frame in as well,  to boil and simmer for 2 hours. Turkey frame soup here we come!
I went to the Post office, Meijer, VG's and Kroger I was disgusted to discover that no one had any pistachio nuts for sale. So that food project will have to wait. But I have almost everything together to make granola...

  •  I never post on Xanga anymore - Facebook is evil.
It requires no thought, no grammar, and definitely no imagination.
So I will attempt to post things about my cooking and baking adventures.

I was so hungry after a night in class where every speech given was about food!
I really wanted a pizza or Chinese food - But I was a good kid - I headed home to eat some delicious minestrone soup and corn bread.
Tonight I decided that I would make seasoned oyster crackers.
I went shopping and picked up a package of ranch seasoning and a bag of oyster crackers.
    Home to mix it up
    Preheat the oven to 200
Mix the following ingredients together - (I mixed it up in a glass measuring cup)
    3/4 cup of oil
    1 1oz ranch dressing mix
    1/2 tsp of dill weed
    1/4 tsp of garlic powder
Put one 12oz bag of oyster crackers in a large bowl.
Pour the liquid over the crackers and coat the crackers well.
Put the crackers in a shallow pan and  in the oven for 10 min.
Stir them and put them back in the oven for 10 more minutes.
    Let them cool and enjoy!
